My encounter with Boat Street Café was rather accidental. I happened to be on my way to the pier, walking briskly, and didn’t want to return to the hotel too late. As I passed by the restaurant, I decided to stop in and ask if I could get takeout.
This upscale restaurant typically requires reservations to dine, but fortunately, when I visited, it had just opened for dinner, and there were no other customers yet. The kitchen had just started preparing dishes.
The Best Seafood Restaurants in Seattle for Takeout
A tall, young female server greeted me warmly. After inquiring, I learned that they usually don’t offer takeout, as many of their seafood dishes lose their taste once they’re packed up. However, she made a special trip to the kitchen to check and confirmed that the Mussels I wanted could be packaged as takeout without compromising the flavor. She placed the order for me right away.
While waiting, I wandered around the restaurant a little. The space is divided into two sections: one is a café for snacks and drinks, which is not open in the evening, and the other is a more formal dining area where you can order from the menu.
The restaurant has a modern decor, with a giant dog mural on the wall that became my favorite feature. The ceiling is decorated with numerous paper umbrellas, which gives off a somewhat Japanese vibe, though the restaurant can’t be fully associated with Japan, so I can only describe the decor as unique.
I took the freshly prepared mussels back to my room to enjoy, and they tasted great. The broth was rich and flavorful. After finishing the mussels, I also polished off the dessert I had packed from the bakery in the morning. It was the perfect ending to the meal.
